A big thank you to the 300 enthusiastic participants who made this edition of Unpaved Roads Punta Ala 2024 special, with lots of smiles and great company. Starting today, at Punta Ala Trail Center, it is possible to relive the route through our guided tour.
On April 28, the much-anticipated Unpaved Roads Punta Ala finally kicked off, bringing with it the excitement of all participants who set out from the PuntAla Camp & Resort to discover the wildest and most magical corners of the Tuscan coast. The result was a weekend of relax, fun, excellent local wine and food, and stunning views of Elba Island and the Maremma hills, all in a friendly and non-competitive environment.
Unpaved Roads is in fact a non-racing event; it’s a true shared experience with people who embody the same spirit: a day of cycling with friends following a GPS track, immersed in picturesque landscapes and refueling with local culinary specialties.
This year, the course was revised to offer even more beauty: 81 km with 1,000 meters of elevation gain for the long track and 56 km for 570 meters of elevation gain for the shorter one. Participants passed iconic places such as Cala Violina and picturesque villages like Scarlino, Caldana, and Castiglione della Pescaia, exploring areas of cultural and natural importance such as the hinterland of Vetulonia and the Daccia Botrona nature reserve.
There were also moments during the day to recharge, with two refreshment points in Caldana and Castiglione della Pescaia and a rich refreshment at the PuntAla Camp & Resort, where the staff of the Isolotto Café & Restaurant by the sea welcomed participants with a fantastic pizza party at the end of the day.
New this year: From today, May 9th, at Punta Ala Trail Center, it is possible to relive the Unpaved Roads experience through a guided tour. Our expert guides, Giacomo Fraternale and Davide Bibo Brugnoli, will accompany you along the entire route, including a stop and tasting of typical products at the tenuta Antinori “Le Mortelle”.
In conclusion, the day ended leaving us all with a beautiful memory, full of shared adventures, stimulating discussions, and memorable laughter. For our part, we are counting the days that separate us from the next appointment and look forward to seeing you with enthusiasm for the 2025 edition of Unpaved.
