In the heart of Maremma for three days of gravel riding between the sea and the hills, with awesome Tuscan food and a weekend-long party. Find out what is included in the registration package also for supporters: it’s now time to start planning your end-of-summer holiday!
The highly-anticipated Italian round of the Grinduro series – on for the long weekend of 8-10 September in Punta Ala, Tuscany – is getting closer and promises to be a truly special event, a great chance to get in the flow and enjoy the beauty of Tuscany’s Maremma – with sport challenges, breath-taking landscapes and an electrifying party vibe by the sea, as guests of renowned PuntAla Camp & Resort.
The crown jewel of the event will be the route: it will be announced in more detail soon, but we can anticipate it will feature a perfect mix of mellow dirt roads, minor paved roads throughout Maremma’s countryside and long flowy singletracks in the woods. Get ready to tackle this great little adventure about 100km/62mi long (60km/37mi for Grindurito riders) and discover a really unique region, while racing four timed special stages all different from one another: an uphill dirt segment, a fun single track, a smooth dirt road and a country lane.
But what makes Grinduro really special is the atmosphere. Grinduro is all about – as the saying goes – the perfect party-to-race ratio. And this is where PuntAla Camp & Resort makes the difference.
What awaits you at PuntAla Camp & Resort, the beating heart and logistics hub of the event, is a whole three-days of electrifying festival atmosphere, where all participants and supporters will be able to enjoy the campsite services and experience the excitement of the event village – all close at hand. PuntAla Camp & Resort is located in a truly special place, fully immersed in a fragrant forest of pine trees, on a stunning beach facing the island of Elba, ideal for any leisure time and for relaxing aperitifs at sunset. All the main event partners will be at the event village – Wilier, Shimano, Evoc, and Giro – and, in addition to engaging their athletes and ambassadors, they will also support a lot of fun activities dedicated to the public. The party will go on until late in the evening with bonfire, wine and craft beer tasting and a blasting live blues music concert by rock band Gran Riserva Power Trio.
By registering to the event, all participants get a full-board package which obviously includes the race entry (also Friday Prologue and Sunday Hangover ride) and refreshments en route. And here a sneak peek for you: about 50 km in, immediately after a super scenic section along one of the most beautiful cypress-lined roads in the entire region (6 km long), the route enters historic Morisfarms’ Poggetti wine estate and a feed zone with typical food will be offered on a terrace overlooking Maremma!
In addition to those for riders, packages for family and friends are also available; they include the tent pitch / camper place (upgrade to cabins on request), food from Friday to Sunday, electric hook-up points and access to all campsite facilities including hot showers… and the beach! Plenty of playtime available in the campsite, sailing, SUP, hiking, mountain-biking, plus adventure park and pump track.. There are also restaurants, ATMs, mini-market, laundrette, workshop, bike hire – all to make your stay even more comfortable. Special accommodation packages are available for supporters who wish to participate as volunteers during the event.
Entries are now live and it’s essential to register as soon as possible not to miss this fantastic event – and to start arranging your late-summer break.
